It’s Never Too Late!

This morning started out with me not having any plans, but then I remembered that The Best of Serendipity was going to be at Millennium Park today and I found my flyer check the time.  It was going to start at 5:30 pm.  Since I wanted to go to it, I decided that I would go downtown early and return some DVD’s to the library before their due date for once.  After paying that $18.00 fine, I will be watching them sooner and returning them earlier.  I still have three of "The 7 Samurai."  I watched the first one tonight.  If I feel like I can stay awake long enough, I may watch the second after i finish the blog.  It was hard not to want to see more when the Intermission came.  How long has it been since you saw a movie that kept your attention like that?  Today’s sure don’t hold mine.  The longer films I am anxious to have end, they feel like they never will.
But, back to today’s event.  Serendipity is a showcase of talented seniors, who were professional entertainers.  They can still sing and dance and may still be performing from time to time.  They certainly performed at this show at the Pritzker Pavilion.  Carol, the woman who works with our chorus director was one of the cast and one of the women in the clown troupe, which put on a skit and goes around the city entertaining at nursing homes and hospitals is also in the play with me.  Everyone on stage was 60 or older.  The oldest was 84.  These are the people who inspire me to believe the title of my blog that "It’s Never Too Late!"  They are active, vibrant and fun to be around.
I was pretty amazed when I found out how old some of the people I have been meeting really are, because they do not look or act anything like I envisioned people of their age would look and act.  I want to be like them.  It is interested to listen to them tell stories about their lives too.  They have had such fascinating lives.  Many traveled all over the world and they have certainly seen major changes in lifestyles as technology keep advancing.  I still find it hard to believe that just one generation earlier than mine life was so much more "primitive" by comparison.
