It’s Never Too Late!

Filed under: Uncategorized — ccassello @ 2:46 am
This morning I did some writing in my journal but did not read the Bible passages, so I promised that i would in the afternoon.  I would have been late for Sunday school if I had taken the time to read and comment on them.  Our Sunday school lesson was about God as the creator of everything.
Today was a special program with women speakers.  It was called Women of Many Hats and we were all told to come wearing hats.  I wore one that had belonged to my mother.  I was expecting the messages to be about how woman are daughters, wives, mothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, friends, and all of the other relationships we have in our lives.  These speakers either did not want to take the expected kind of message or had a different understanding of what was meant.
In the morning service, Evangelist Elanor Williams (her name was spelled Elnora in the bulletin but she pronounced her name as Elanor), spoke about the "helmet of salvation" being a hat and that it was part of the armor God tells us to put on in Ephesians 6:10-17.  She said that the helmet was necessary to protect our thoughts.  The name of her message was "God’s Got You Covered."
After that service, my friend and I went to eat because as i said the church is not serving food this month.  She brought me back to the church just in time for the 4:00 pm service, but she did not stay for that.  Pamela Hinton was the speaker for this service.  She summarized the whole book of Ephesians, saying that it began with chapters explaining what the church is, then covering the unity of believers and ending with how that should effect our whole life.  When she gave an invitation one woman came up to be baptized.  There were a few others being prayed for, but they did not get baptized.
The songs our choir sang were well received, but on the far end away from the organ where I stood, I could not hear how it sounded and I could not hear the soloist either, but she was putting everything she had into it.  The speakers put all of their energy into their sermons too, especially Mrs. Hinton.  It was a good day.
When I came home, I did read the verse from Romans and the devotionals from Today as i promised God I would.  I wrote a little more in my journal about them.  That was the extent of my writing today, with this blog also.
